Blaine Stevens and his friend Jones team up to build a new kind of social network. Thugbook arms citizens with cameras and gives them the power to take back the streets.
At first only the brave dare photograph a crime in progress, fearing retaliation, but soon gang members are the ones who are afraid.
Criminals appear on the web by the hundreds, their pictures on a city map identifying them and their turf. The cops ignore the crime-stopping technology, but a more sinister group embraces Thugbook and begins stopping criminals permanently.
Thugbook is engulfed in a swirl of lawsuits and threats to shut the company down. As the stock soars skyward and the site rivals the popularity of Facebook and Google+, two founders with very different agendas battle to fulfill their mission.

This is a nice little novella / short story from CJ West: I could see this plot outline as a full-length novel or even a successful movie or TV miniseries as it was very compelling, plus I could see a future where the scenes and situation as described in this story come true. The author does a great job of quickly getting you into the heads of his characters and fully immersed into the story, and there is really nothing over the top or extraneous here - the dialogue is crisp and on target vs. endlessly droning on for word-count sake. Just when you think you think you have the ending figured out, West takes a hard right turn and fools you.
As I type this review, the Kindle version of this story is 99 cents - it is well worth it and is an enjoyable read. If the author should take this short to a full-length novel concept, I think it would be very successful.

Thugbook edition by CJ West Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I though the book had potential, but it was as though major parts of it were chopped out.
It wasn't a favorite and although I finished it, I don't think I'll be back for more.
The style was too disjointed and the motivation was unclear. I found I didn't give a hoot who made it thru, who the "bad guy" was or if he/she was caught.
The whole book seem unstructured and pointless.
A short novel that put new meaning to the word "social network". A social network site set up for citizens to post pictures of criminals in the act of committing crimes. As you read you can predict that someone in the office is behind the kilings. You could not figure out who until the very end. Great ending, very enjoyable.
Facebook and vigilantism combine in an interesting and somewhat off-beat high tech/future tech storyline.
Liked the characters, didn't see all the twists and turns coming and not sure of all the slightly twisted reasoning driving the plotline ... but good entertainment.
Would like to meet these characters again.
Thugbook...a site set up for citizens to anonymously down load illegal activity in their community has turned Blaine and Jones into a millionaire company that is shunned by criminals and law enforcement.
I thought this was a story with potential to be better if characters and plots had been delved into deeper. All in all it was a quick paced read.

The author presents an interesting premise of people, and maybe corporate executives, using technology to not only eliminate crime but the criminals too. For me, though, the execution just fell short. I don't doubt that this would make for good TV but as a novel it just didn't flow right. I couldn't find one character I could empathize with from among the executives, the employees, the police or even the public. The "twists" in the story seemed contrived and the ending was somewhat unrealistic. All-in-all this story felt more like a chore than a fun read.
I read the novella, Thugbook, quickly enough and the premise was startling and original. That alone is worth the five stars to me. The writing engaged and kept me clicking the kindle pages. There were few characters I could relate to, and surprising enough, that didn't matter. Thugbook looks at crime and the capture of criminals in different ways. The author invents a new social network, and asks the question what would happen if . . . just read Thugbook for yourself. It's a curious book and the premise stayed with me, and makes me want to read more books by the author.
Blaine and Jones have put together a social network unlike any other. Users submit photographs of criminals linked to a map of the city - you can see where crime is taking place, and who the perpetrators are. Unfortunately, the cops aren't fans of the site, some of the "photectors" are being hurt and killed, some of the criminals have been killed as well. Plus not everyone at the company is really all about seeing justice served, more about making money, no mater how.
This book was easy to read, I found my opinion changing several times as to whose side I was on.
